Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek προσόδιον (prosódion), use as noun of neuter of Koine Greek προσόδιος (prosódios) (though apparently first attested later), from Ancient Greek πρόσοδος (prósodos, “procession”) + -ιος (-ios, adjectival suffix).
