pronatalism means an attitude or ideology promoting child-bearing; advocacy of having children, especially from the State. Lexicurio rates it Sui generis — a strength score of 88 out of 100.
Why “pronatalism” is a great word
An ideology or policy that actively encourages childbearing, typically through societal pressure or governmental incentives. From the English prefix pro- ("in favor of") + natal, from Latin natalis ("of or pertaining to birth") + the suffix -ism ("doctrine, system"). First attested 1935–40. Unlike "natalism" (a passive cultural preference) or "antinatalism" (a doctrine viewing birth as a moral harm), pronatalism is a programmatic engine. It is the tax credit, the propaganda poster, the public celebration of large families—a collective anxiety about the future, measured in hypothetical cries.
Etymology
From pro- + natal + -ism.
