postponence
Etymology
From postpone + -ence.
Why this word is great
POSTPONENCE — [Noun] The act of deferring action while simultaneously demoting priority, creating both temporal and hierarchical displacement. From Latin postponere ("to put after") + -ence (noun-forming suffix indicating state or action). Unlike procrastination (which implies avoidance through delay) or mere postponement (which preserves original significance), postponence actively reshuffles value—the canceled dinner becomes forgotten, the shelved project fades from urgency, the delayed confrontation loses its sting. A triple erasure: of schedule, importance, and eventually, memory itself.
