PANDEMONISM — [Noun] The belief that every object, idea, or action is inhabited by its own independent supernatural spirit—often malevolent—or the worship of such spirits; alternatively, the conviction that the universe is suffused with an evil presence. From the Greek pan- ("all") + demon ("evil spirit") + -ism ("belief system"). Unlike "animism" (which ascribes benign or neutral spirits to natural phenomena) or "pantheism" (which dissolves the divine into an impersonal, all-pervading unity), pandemonism populates the world with a teeming parliament of hostile wills.
