Etymology
Probably either:
* an alteration of morel with Italian -ello substituted for the ending, perhaps after Italian morello (“dark-coloured”); or
* from Italian amarello and/or Dutch amarelle, marelle, both from Medieval Latin amārellum, from Latin amārus + -ellum.
