Why this word is great
METACHRONISM — [Noun] An error in chronology where something is placed later in time than it actually existed. From Ancient Greek μετά (metá, "after, behind") + χρόνος (khrónos, "time") + -ism. Unlike "anachronism" (which covers any misplacement in time) or "prochronism" (which errs by arriving too early), metachronism is the belated guest at history's party: a Victorian gaslamp flickering in a 1920s speakeasy, a flintlock pistol holstered beside a revolver, or the lingering scent of powdered wigs in an age of top hats. It is the past overstaying its welcome, a ghost that doesn’t realize it’s dead.
