Etymology
From auto- (“reflexive, regarding or to oneself”) + plushophilia (“the sexual attraction to plush toys”), from plush (“a plush toy”, noun) + -o- (“a linking vowel inserted interconsonantally between two morphemes to ease pronunciation without contributing to the word's meaning”) + -philia (“abnormal love of something”). Coined in 2009 by the American psychologist, sexologist and physician Anne Lawrence.
